Road riders tend to notice rotor mass at the wheel, and the LEWIS TORQLITE is built around an ultra lightweight design. It is a 420 stainless steel rotor made by laser cutting and integrated molding, with a 1.8mm thickness across every size.
Picking between 140mm, 160mm and 180mm
Thickness is fixed on the TORQLITE, so diameter is your only real decision. The 140mm rotor is the lightest of the three and the 180mm the heaviest, so a rider chasing low weight should take the smallest size that still suits their terrain. As a general guide, more diameter adds leverage and area to shed heat.
Confirming your road hub and mount
TORQLITE has a 44mm BCD for road bike hubs, so measure or look up the bolt pattern on your hub before going further. Then check the frame and fork, because a bigger rotor usually needs a different adapter, and ask whether bolts come with the rotor before ordering.
Will a 1.8mm rotor clear your caliper?
Rotor thickness affects how the pads sit in the caliper, and not every brake is set up for every thickness. Look up your caliper's accepted range first. Once the TORQLITE is on, spin the wheel and watch the gap on each side of the disc, since a rotor that rubs means the caliper needs realigning before you ride.
- Weight-first road build: 140mm is the lightest TORQLITE.
- Bike already on 160mm: a same-size swap avoids an adapter change.
- Moving from 160mm to 180mm: expect a heavier rotor and possibly a different adapter.
- Mountain bike: choose a LEWIS rotor for MTB hubs, as TORQLITE is for road bike hubs.
- Material note: 420 stainless steel, described with high hardness and good resistance to deformation.
- Bed-in: plan a controlled session with new pads, as is usual for disc brakes.
After those checks, the TORQLITE decision is mostly which diameter your road bike is set up to run.
