LEWIS LV4 Radial Cylinder 4-Piston Hydraulic Disc Brake for MTB Downhill & Enduro

Long downhill and enduro runs ask a lot of one finger, and the LEWIS LV4 answers with a radial cylinder, a four-piston caliper and a lever on bearing pivots. It is specified for downhill, enduro and E-MTB use.

How the radial lever and pistons feel on a descent

The LV4 cylinder sits radial to the bar, and the lever pivots on four precision bearings for modulation and feel. At the caliper, 14mm and 17mm asymmetric pistons improve linear feel and balance pad pressure and wear, so the aim is braking force you can predict as well as power.

A hinged clamp for busy cockpits

The clamp is hinged, in black or silver, and is meant to avoid fraying the handlebar. A hinged clamp opens around the bar, which helps when grips or shifters are already in place, and it pairs with tool-free reach and a 2mm Allen key for bite point.

Rotors, adapters and pad planning

The post mount caliper takes optional 180, 200, 203, 220 or 223mm rotors, recommended at LEWIS 2.3mm or another brand between 2.0mm and 2.5mm thick. Adapters are separate, so match one to your frame and rotor. Metallic pads are specified without a pad code, so ask for the shape, and for the finish you want, before ordering.

Bleed with mineral oil only, and set reach before bite point so the lever lands where your finger wants it. If you would rather have a split clamp, look at an axial brake.

Corrosion-resistant Hose

High quality braided hose is suitable for higher-intensity riding environments.

The LV2 standard version uses 4-layer hoses which have excellent performance benefits such as high pressure resistance, corrosion resistance and high temperature resistance. They also allow a more stable performance under heavy use of the brakes. The internal use of Kevlar bulletproof fiber with a high number of braided layers makes the hose have an expansion coefficient far lower than the industry standard giving the brakes next level rigidity.
