Over a long ride, a pad that stays quieter and sheds heat is easier to live with, and that is the aim of the LEWIS VP series. This carbon ceramic pad is meant for high speed or long distance braking, with less noise, better heat dissipation and more braking force.
Who gets the most from carbon ceramic VP pads
Picture a long ride with repeated stops from speed, which is where less pad noise and better heat dissipation count most on a VP pad. If your rides are mostly hard enduro or downhill runs, compare the LEWIS TP sintered metallic series too, because that series is the one aimed at prolonged, intense stops.
Counting pistons before choosing a VP code
VP-30 suits two-piston calipers on LEWIS LV2, BB2, SL and SLR, with a 30mm section width. VP-37 at 36.9mm suits four-piston calipers on LV4, LH4 and LHP-S4. VP-40 at 40mm belongs with LEWIS LHT and LHP-U4 and their 4x17mm pistons, so two different pads exist for four-piston brakes.
LEWIS brakes this VP set leaves out
None of these three codes names LEWIS EB or AX brakes, and EB 20-21 and AX 18-20 have their own wider VP-44 pad. On a brake from another maker, compare pad shape on the old set instead of assuming a VP pad will drop in.
- LEWIS LV2 or BB2 on a long-distance bike: VP-30.
- LEWIS SL or SLR two-piston brake: VP-30.
- LEWIS LV4, LH4 or LHP-S4: VP-37.
- LEWIS LHT or LHP-U4: VP-40.
- LEWIS EB 20-21 or AX 18-20: look at VP-44 instead of this carbon ceramic set.
Read the model name off your brake and confirm the matching VP code before you order, since each one only suits its own group of calipers.
