LEWIS VP-44 Carbon Ceramic Brake Pads for EB 20-21 & AX 18-20 Calipers

This pad names EB 20-21 and AX 18-20 specifically, so the numbers after the letters matter as much as the letters. If your brake carries a different designation, hold the old pad against the VP-44 shape first, because as a general rule pad shape tells you more than the brand name.

Carbon ceramic versus sintered metallic for EB and AX

LEWIS also offers two sintered metallic pads that name EB and AX: SP-44-4.0 at the same 44mm width, and EP-44-4.0, which is designed for E-Bike use. VP-44 aims for less noise and better heat dissipation, so it suits long or fast descents where pads stay on the rotor longest and noise bothers you.

Getting a new VP-44 set working

As is usual for new disc pads, a controlled bed-in before hard riding gives the carbon ceramic surface time to settle against the rotor. Clean any oil off the rotor before fitting VP-44 pads, since as general guidance contamination will not clear through a pad change alone.
