LEWIS LV-S2 Radial Cylinder 2-Piston Lightweight Hydraulic Disc Brake for XC & Trial Bikes

Not every bike needs four pistons, and the LEWIS LV-S2 is for the ones that do not. It is a radial, two-piston brake aimed at cross country, trial, BMX and dirt jump riding, where a light set and direct lever feedback matter.

Is two pistons right for your discipline

Think about how long and how steep your descents are before choosing the LV-S2. Its two 21mm stainless steel pistons cover the riding it was designed for, while extended downhill or enduro use points toward a four-piston LEWIS brake.

Rotor options on a two-piston caliper

This post mount caliper takes optional 140, 160, 180, 203 or 223mm rotors, so a small rotor stays on the table for light builds. LEWIS recommends its 2.3mm rotor, and other brands from 1.8mm to 2.5mm thick are accepted, a wider thickness range than the LEWIS four-piston brakes state.

Fitting and bleeding on a tight cockpit

A hinged clamp makes it easier to fit the radial lever around a cramped trial or BMX bar. Primary and secondary oil ports help when bleeding with mineral oil, and the lever pivots on four precision bearings with reach set by hand and bite point by 2mm Allen key.

Rotors and adapters are separate, so order them at the same time. Measure your hose run too, since a BMX frame may want less than the rear length provided.

Corrosion-resistant Hose

High quality braided hose is suitable for higher-intensity riding environments.

The LV2 standard version uses 4-layer hoses which have excellent performance benefits such as high pressure resistance, corrosion resistance and high temperature resistance. They also allow a more stable performance under heavy use of the brakes. The internal use of Kevlar bulletproof fiber with a high number of braided layers makes the hose have an expansion coefficient far lower than the industry standard giving the brakes next level rigidity.
