Measure the rotor to learn which EP6 size you need

EP6 3.5 pads fit 3.0mm rotors, and EP6 4.0 pads fit 2.3mm rotors. A caliper gauge gives you the answer in seconds, and it also shows any wear on the braking track, so measure rather than rely on memory or on what the bike came with.

What the larger friction area is for

The EP6 pad has an increased friction area for improved heat dissipation performance. More pad on the rotor gives heat more room to spread, which is useful on a heavy EMTB or electric off-road bike that spends a long time on the brakes.

Where semi-metallic sits among pad compounds

As a general guide, semi-metallic blends sit between softer organic pads and fully sintered ones, trading some extreme heat tolerance for a friendlier feel. If your EP6+ brakes are used on long, steep descents, weigh that trade-off against how you actually ride.
